Education

Lyman B. Goff Middle School

The mission of Goff Middle School, in partnership with home and community, is to establish an environment that values diversity and fosters respect for all individuals, an enthusiasm for learning, and a quest for success.  Together, we will create a safe and nurturing school which produces well prepared learners who are familiar with current technology and prepared for life's challenges.

Community Preparatory School

Community Preparatory School serves culturally and economically diverse students who are well qualified to benefit from a rigorous academic education in an atmosphere of mutual respect. By engaging with all facets of our students – intellectual curiosity, joyful learning, awareness of their own strengths, the rewards and satisfaction of determination, and a deep connection to our community and the larger world – we prepare our students to thrive in the most competitive high schools and to become community leaders.

Institute at Brown for Environment and Society (IBES)

Formerly known as the Center for Environmental Studies, IBES offers Brown University students an opportunity to study environmental issues in depth by integrating several academic disciplines. Thesis writers are encouraged to analyze an environmental problem of importance to the local community. The Center is housed in the Urban Environment Lab, a superinsulated passive/ active solar retrofit on the Brown Campus.
