Emmanuel Church 42 Dearborn Street, Newport, RI 02840
Monday June 5th, 2017 3:00pm – 8:00pm
Since 1972, the Environment Council of Rhode Island (ECRI), a coalition of over 60 Rhode Island organizations and individuals who collectively serve as an effective voice for developing and advocating for policies and laws that protect and enhance Rhode Island's environment, is proud to have been working since 1972.
ECRI will be holding our annual meeting on Monday June 5th. We will conduct our end-of-the-year business while also celebrating the work of the Green Infrastructure Coalition, particularly their efforts to reduce the harm caused by excess stormwater on Aquidneck Island.
We will be conducting a bus tour, beginning at 3:00pm, of Green Infrastructure projects on Aquidneck Island. And thanks to Discover Newport and Viking Tours, we now have two buses and room for everyone who wants to come.
The formal part of the day will begin at 5:30pm with a locally-catered supper, provided by Mixed Grille Catering with a focus on locally-sourced food. Vegetarians, vegans as well as omnivores will find plenty of savory fare. There will be exhibits from Green Energy businesses and local organizations focused on stormwater mitigation, and conversation with some of the most committed activists in Rhode Island.
We will also hear from Tom Ardito of the Aquidneck Island Planning Commission and Jeff Diehl of the RI Infrastructure Bank who will discuss Stormwater Management and the financing of Green Infrastructure in Rhode Island and on Aquidneck Island.
Cost is $40 per person including dinner and the Aquidneck Island tour.
All are welcome to attend with ECRI Members and Member Organizations.
We also invite businesses and community groups to join ECRI members by advertising in the program, sponsoring the event, and/or exhibiting at the event.
