...building an ecologically healthy future in a sustainable economy
Woonasquatucket River Watershed Council

In 1998 the Woonasquatucket River was designated as one of fourteen American Heritage Rivers. This federal designation honors the historic, cultural, economic and environmental significance of this Rhode Island treasure. The Woonasquatucket River Watershed Council (WRWC) protects and restores the urban river, as well as park spaces and a bike path directly alongside the river. WRWC runs many programs – Clean Days on the Greenway volunteer events, water and fish monitoring, bike and education lessons and activities, recreation events and more.
