Call for Lobby Day Activists - April 30 - RI State House

Environmental Lobby Day 2014
Hosted by the Environment Council of Rhode Island

ECRI's annual "Earth Day at the State House" is coming up on April 30th. All are welcome. RSVPs encouraged.

Wednesday, April 30th, 2:30 - 4:30 pm
Rhode Island State House (82 Smith St. in Providence), main rotunda

Join environmental advocates, activists, organizations, and concerned citizens to lobby state lawmakers for Rhode Island's environment and move key policies forward at the State House.

Environmental Lobby Day will feature:

  • informational tables from environmental groups
  • a speaking program including State Rep. Art Handy, State Sen. Sue Sosnowski, and DEM Director Janet Coit
  • a group lobbying effort on ECRI's priorities, with provided materials and a Lobbying 101 orientation

Key ECRI policy priorities we will be focusing on are:

  • Expanding renewable energy and addressing climate change (distributed generation, solar tax credit, climate mitigation and adaptation)
  • Rethinking waste (plastic bag ban, composting / organics diversion)
  • Green bonds for clean water, open space, and healthy communities

But of course, you are welcome to bring your own priorities.
